Tor Megiddo: Ferrugo Pass, Part 4

High noon in Perishton

Quick was Great Father Arun to act upon Mahela's words. For though the Purebred had won the day in Perishton, the Anomaly Protocol were a threat to the Purebred's quest to Ferrugo Pass. And so, he called Warfather Jax to his side and ordered him to prepare a raiding party.

And as the sun was high over Perishton, Proctors patrolled the streets. Called in by the locals, there they were to keep the peace so that no more fights beset the holstead. And Tarkloth the Servo-Skull Collector wondered through the shantytown, hoping to ply his trade.

Under the Proctors' gaze, the Anomaly Protocol sifted through the tech-scrap and supply they'd gathered. Sentinels they had posted, high on the waterplant tower, and the tongue of the Skull-Cog rung, broken and mingled with the speech of the Yaike Yaike, as orders and reports were exchanged.

And the Purebred split. To the left of the waterplant rode Eshelon, Kurk the Blemished sculking behind the Rider. To the right advanced Arun, trusted Yash at his side, hidden in the shanties shadows. And above them Warfather Jax took position, Mahela and Larg running along the walkway.

Jax's heavy stubber roared, and on the tower Hastun of the Anomaly Protocol fell, but Decima laid low. His arquebus found its mark and the stubber fell silent.

The Proctors braced their guns, and for disturbing the peace, on the Purebred they opened fire. Yash bled but made it to the generatorum.

Larg and Mahela halted where they could find shelter.

Bright plasma darted from the Anomaly Protocol's weapons and blossemed around Arun. And Mahela looked upon her work with pride, as the Great Father walked through the blaze to join Yash.

But to bring such a weapon to bear was something the Proctors could not stand, and down they gunned Gudget.

And then war cries filled the air as Eshelon and Kurk closed on the Anomaly Protocol from the other side.

And Mahela left cover to plant a charge on the barrels the Anomaly Protocol had filled with water.

And Larg saw a Proctor aiming for the Keeper of the Flesh. With his body he shielded her.

And high up the silent comm-tower, the Stash Riders watched. Mahela's blast they saw, and Yash and Arun take away the generatorum. Why they did not join the fight, nobody knows. But soon they were seen leaving Perishton on the trail to Ferrugo Pass, where the broken Tors lie.
