Animosity III, the Prime Dominion - Part 9

Treasures of the Lux Umbra

Plenty is hidden in the deepest tunnels of the Lux Umbra. Scattered through the chambers lay the tombs and memorials of the earlier settlers of the Prime Dominion, some defiled, other still secure beyond doors controlled by arcane mechanism. Soulstones hewn from Umbralith hung in the air, chained on key geomantic positions. Who carved them is still a mistery, but as Alti's plan for the Dominion unfolds, many suspect it was his servants that placed them in preparation for the shackling of Noctis. And through the centuries, smugglers used cleaverly hidden rooms to stash goods from all over the Prime Dominion and beyond. Thus, many troves both mundane and arcane can be found, some forgotten, others guarded by determined defenders. And where there are troves, scavengers and plunderers come, like moths to a flame.

I always thought that the Shattered Dominion Objectives would have worked better on a board representing in-door spaces rather than an open battlefield. So, I bought them as soon as I started working on my underground board back in mid-June. And glad I did it, as a couple of days later they went on the 'Last Chance to Buy' list and were out of production by mid-July.

I didn't convert any of them as they looked perfect as they were, the only thing needed was to paint the stone and mason parts to match the rest of the board. I didn't neither base the three troves so that I will be able to place them both on the board floor and on platforms. The Realmvault Key and the Hallowed Tomb didn't require basing either as, by alternating the green and grey used on the walls, they pop up wherever placed.

The Soulstone and Iconoclast Axe, on the other hand, needed basing. For the Soulstone it was mostly a practical reason: the model didn't feel sturdy and stable enough without a base. For the Iconoclast Axe, it was an aesthetic reason: without a base and being painted in grey, it would have not contrasted against the rocky parts of the board, forcing me to only place it over the tiles.
